ORANGE CAKE WITH ORANGE BUTTER FROSTING
Hubby gifted me a 28 ltr. OTG on my birthday. .thought of baking a cake instead of buying from store...before i baked some cake in pressure cooker. .this time wanted to bake something special....it is the season of orange....so decided to bake a Orange Cake...have never done icing on cake...this is the first time i tried my hands on icing a cake....
I have made this Orange cake with fresh orange juice. ..but you can use store bought juice...just keep it mind...if you use fresh orange juice then make the juice before you add it to oil sugar mixture...keeping orange juice for a long time can result in it bitterness

INGREDIENTS
- All purpose flour-1cup
- Salt-1/4tsp
- Baking powder-2tsp
- Castor sugar--3/4 cup
- Milk-1/4cup
- Eggs-2 beaten
- Orane juice (fresh or readymade)-1/2cup
- Vegetable Oil-1/2 cup
- OrangeZest-1.5 tbsp...for orane zest...wash orange properly. ..then grate the peel. .One normal size orange yield about 1tbsp of zest..
INGREDIENTS FOR FROSTING
- Butter-12 Tbsp
- Icing sugar-4 cups
- Orange juice-1/2 cup
- Vanils essence-1tsp
- Orange zest-3sp
- Orange food colour-1 pinch(optional)
METHOD OF BAKING CAKE
- Preheat oven to 175degrees c....Grease a 8 inch cake pan with butter...pre heat for 10 minutes
- In a mixing bowl, combine milk, orange juice, oil, beaten eggs nd orang zest.....mix it property. .set aside
- Seive flouer and baking powder in a large bowl. .add sugar and salt..mix it with hand blender..makr a well in center...and pour the milk mixture...stir with blender until thoroughly combined
- Pour batter in prepared pan...bake in the preheated oven for 35minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean . allow to cool.
METHOD OF FROSTING
- Cream butter until smooth
- Add icing sugar and beat until light and fluffy
- Add orange juice..vanila essence and orange zest..beat until a smooth consistency
- Divide the batter into two parts...add food colour into one part and mix
HOW TO ICE THE CAKE
After baking the cake ..Allow it to cool for 1hr..it prevent the Frosting from melting as you spread it.

- Set the cake on a platter...it's best to ice the cake on the same dish you plan to use to serve it.
- Allow the cake to cool completely
- Spread the orange colour icing on the cake..use a spoon to place some icing on the top of cake...spread it evenly with butter knife...remember to spread icing around the sides of the cake as well as top
- Create a smoother layer of icing by dipping the knife into warm water.shaking off the excess drops..and using it smooth out the icing
- Put the cake in the fridge to give the icing to completely set...after 20 minutes...take it out from fridge
- If you have piping bag..you can do design on cake according to your choice by using piping bag.
Your Orange Cake with Orane Butter Frosting are ready to serve. ...if you want...you can serve the cake without icing
